Shira graduated with a master’s degree in clinical and child psychology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Her work focused on levels of perceptual processing and their influence on inferential styles. Specifically, she was interested in understanding how global and local styles of processing affect people's inferences of negative events. She received her Bachelor’s degree in psychology and cognitive science from Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Israel.
